After lunch we continued our trek down Scenic 7 to Russelville and filled up. Then off to 155 and a trip up the mountainside of Mt Nebo. Crossing this bridge, Erin was able to get a shot of a Nuclear reactor....
We found Nebo!!
Nebo dead ahead!!
It is a fast climb to the top on those switchbacks....you can't even see the roads from here!
There's the first turn!
10mph squiggles ahead!!! Yea!!
There were some switch backs tighter than this but Erin had to put the camera away to hang on!!
Here's the state park sign!! We're on top!
Cruise around a bit on top....
Found a good photo place...
Nice view and cooler up here!!
There's the reactor off to the left (North East). We actually road down a road labeled as a Nuclear Accident Escape Route! Yikes!!
My lovely bride!!
Mike took a picture of us!!
This is where the hang gliders take off from. There are landing areas way down below just in case....
Sheesh...hope you like broccoli!!!
What a view, you can see for miles!!
Heres the group minus Erin...L-R Billy, Matt, Gonz, Dave, and Mike
Another of my bride!!!
Now she is getting picture happy as I look onward and take it all in. This was worth the trip right here!!
Nice to see so much undeveloped area...we are starting to dislike Dallas....
Someone didn't make it on a glider...see the cross?
Nice slabs of rock to go to the edge and look down!!
After Nebo we make a run for My Magazine. It is getting pretty hot and sunny at this point and Billy is fired, I have raccoon eyes myself and Dave is the only smart one to wear a bandana over his face!! He get up My Magazine and ride around and make a run for Ola to pick back up on Scenic 7 south to Hot Springs. Only 54 miles to go and these guys are on 84 on their tanks. We don't fill up and get going....we go through some great swooping turns back and forth but do not find a station for miles!! Luckily most of this part of the trip was downhill and they were saving gas and didn't know it! By the time we stopped they were all saying they thought they would be out of fuel 20 miles back....but found out they have another gallon in their tanks still! Dave had a full can just in case though!!
We pull into Hot Springs about 6:30 and find a Hotel, one I regularly stay in. We dump our gear off for the final time and head out for dinner. Chinese buffet is the order of the evening!!
The next morning Matt had headed off early to get to work on time in NW Arkansas. We all stop and have breakfast at Muffins Restaurant or something like that!! Great breakfast and I do not need to eat again for a week!! A final departing shot of the group as Billy heads northwest and we go southwest. Good to see you again buddy and safe journeys...
One of Erin and I. That jacket didn't stay on long. We took the back roads home and left about 10:30 a.m.. We were home at 4:30. The ride was nice but a little too much sun. A couple good stops to hydrate and we were refreshed enough to continue. We split from Mike IN Greenville as he headed south and we headed towards McKinney and home. God Speed Mike, until next time we ride!! You were a great tail gunner this whole trip!
To my brothers of HondaShadow.net and The Sabre Group, you missed out on a great run! Weather couldn't have been any better!! Now time to hunker down and finish my Shadow project. Erin and I have spent the last few evenings looking through real estate and job listings in Arkansas and are trying to make our plans to move out of the city and into the mountain life!! If it is in His plan, it will all work out in His time...
Thanks for visiting!!
