Here's another project I did a few months ago but haven't had
time to document until now.
That cheapo Aoogah horn isn't cutting the mustard. Sounds more like a goose
which is
fine when honking at a hot chick walking down the street! Use it in the
backwoods and I am
likely to get shot for Sunday dinner! So I pick up this 70's model horn that is
more than twice
the size of the cheapo electronic horn. This one actually has a motor in
it and is heavy.
Time to fab a bracket! This little beast here is made
from 1/8" strap and is triangulated
and reinforced so that I can stand on the sucker! This will bolt onto the engine
fin covers
in three places and give three mounting positions on the horn. Looks really
confusing huh??
I had to overexpose this shot to get the detail of the bracket in.
Here is a shot of it bolted on the left side of the bike. This thing has no give!
Another angle.
Here is a shot of the horn mounted on my dirty bike!
Looks pretty mean from the front.
I was worried about wind drag but placing my hand in front of the horn at
highway speeds
I feel no air pressure there. It is deflected around the bike before it reaches
the horn. Nice..
Here is a side shot. Adds a nice bit of chrome to this side of
the engine. I wired it into a Gonzo Stebil
Harness and she is much louder than the old gooser. I think someday I will opt
for an air horn system
like I put on the Valk, utilizing a pressure switch and tank. The tank I am
going to mount inside
the frame piece that used to direct air to the stock carbs! there is no place
else to mount it.
Final 3/4 shot of it. AOOGAH!!
Thanks for reading.
