We run some nice twisty roads through southern OK and around
scenic 70 at Lake Murray. A
scenic and beautiful blue colored lake. A lot of lakes in Oklahoma are red! We
used to call Lake Thunderbird
Lake Dirtybird! I digress... Erin got some video snips, none more than 10
seconds long though. But here they are ....
We pull into Ardmore and stop at the Honda
Shop...says it closed at 1, it is now about 1:45. I doubt
that they even showed up on such a beautiful day. Weather couldn't have been
better! Time for lunch!!! We head over to the
Two Frogs Grill, our alternative spot to eat. Had we been on schedule we would
have ate at the Catfish restaurant
in Dougherty. But this place was great and owned by one of my best friends
cousins. They have live bands there
on weekends.
Great food and time to sit down and learn a little bit about
everyone. I called Angela to ensure
she made it home and relayed her goodbyes to the others and hopes that she can
join us later
when she gets more riding experience. She was big enough to admit that she
wasn't ready for
what I was throwing at her.
Here Rich, MSkinny, and Rendell are at the table Erin and
I were sitting at. I think Dave was
there too. Must have ran to the little boys room when I took this shot.
The next table has WKenneth, Glen, Ruhk, Krystal & Slim, and
Chance. Joe and Billie grabbed
a corner table...the little love birds! HA!! I couldn't take a picture and post
it here... just kidding
I totally missed them back there.
Slim was a great guy to meet, very laid back and seemed like
he was one of those that would
be just fine in life as long as he gets to ride! His wife Krsytal met Erin at
one of the stop signs from
the backs of our rides in true Biker-Babes style! LOL MSkinny had the frog legs,
Rendell and I stuck
with the rib platter. Food was great and it was very dark in there and took a
while for my eyes to adjust.
Here we are ready for a nap and loading up to continue the ride north to Turner
Falls.
Into the Oklahoma mountain range we go. Great site for communications repeaters.
View goes for miles from up here, granted it isn't ANYTHING like Colorado!
and the waving weeds, can sure smell sweet...
....and at the Falls. Here is recreation, camping, caves,
hiking, etc. This is a zoomed in
shot from the observation deck.
Just above the falls is the spring fed river that feeds them.
Glens gratuitous picture of him visiting a local landmark!!
A few of us up on the observation deck which is just off the twisting mountain road.
L-R - My brother Dave, me, Glen, and Slim.
At this point my brother has come down with something and is
hotter than my pipes!
He is getting dizzy on these twisting turns but hangs in for the entire trip.
What a trooper.
We gave him some AirBorn and Rich later gave him some Tylenol.
Slim takes point to show us around some local scenery and twisty roads.
This road leads to Doughtery where the fish joint is.
Erin catches a shot of this old fort looking mill.
and one of Arbuckle Lake late in the evening.
It is getting late in the day and we are ready to head home.
We gas up at a station
and head home. As we cross the border on Lake Texoma at sundown , Erin snags this cool shot
on the bridge!
This picture moves me... and is a perfect closing...
