Didn't know they made Cheese in Poland? LOL Here are a couple shots of some of the engine casings I polished on the CB750. There was 30 years of corrosion and spotting on these. The surface was very rough. I used 220grit sandpaper to get through to the underlying aluminum. This gave it a nice brushed aluminum look. Then I put them on the bench grinder polishing wheel using Mothers Billet Aluminum polish. This stuff is $13 a can at PepBoys and it is a small container, but got me through most of my polishing. I did most of the bolt heads on the right side of the bike already, and some of the left. The front forks are done, clutch cover, alternator cover, and transmission cover which needs more work due to some lingering factory clear coat.
I will get more pictures up when I get it out in the sunlight. This weekend (02/28/05) was pretty gloomy and rainy...
Here you can see the clutch cover (not the chrome cover) is done as well as many bolts (all the cover bolts and many frame bolts). I also hit the valve cover a little on the side but I have one that is polished to swap out once I pull the motor out of the frame. The carb bowl and bracket was also hit just a bit.... I will detail them with polish next time I have to pull them. This build up was functional over beauty!
Here is a good shot of the alternator cover. I should have taken some detailed shots of it before I polished it....
