Now time to figure out how to mount this rear fender. I pulled the seat, fender,
shocks, and struts off to reveal this work in progress. Kinda looks like a drag bike.

The rear fender is about 10.5 inches wide and fits over the struts. I have decided to
weld struts inside the rear fender to give the final install a strut less look. I will probably
have to cut off the front section of my struts since they fit the frame so well. Hate to do that...
Here is what the final will sort of look like when installed.

It is just sitting on there so the positioning isn't exactly how it will turn out.
I want it a bit further back, but I could not get it to sit there.

Items to address so far, I need to cut out and weld in a semi-circle to fit the shocks back on,
so in essence, the fender will wrap behind the shocks. Also the seat is designed to wrap
around a 7.5 inch fender. It needs to be widened. This is a Corbin seat and looks to be
a plastic resin. Wonder if I can heat it and bend it. Wonder if the material will buckle on top
when I do that? Will be on the horn with Corbin soon and may send it back for modification.
Another option is to pull the stock seat out and run a true solo. Time for a bedazzler to stud the seat out! LOL

Image quality not so good. Was dark out there last night...and cold! More to come!

6 Days lapse and I get back into my project. Tab came out to snap some pics of me working.

First thing is to trace the fender skirt onto the 1/4" steel plate that I got courtesy of my friend Scott.
Once traced I grabbed the Plaz cutter and started cutting them out! Here's some shots of me
strut'n my stuff! (Argh Argh)

Once the first is cut I test fit it onto the fender skirt and then use it to trace the second one.

A tap with a hammer breaks the slag loose.

The finished cuts. This takes about 15 minutes to cut out both pieces. Guess which one is still HOT!

Then grinding the slag and smoothing the edges just a bit. Not too concerned about form
as I am function. These will be mounted under the fender as shown anyhow.

Time to weld the skirts to the fender...here you can see I have the skirt held on using bolts through the
fender mounting holes. These holes will eventually get welded shut and ground down.

I put a few clamps on it and started spot welding around the fender to keep it from getting
too hot in one spot and warping the fender. Then I brush off the welds and finish welding
between the spot welds until I completed the semi-circle.

I guess I forgot to take pics after this, but I tac welded the struts inside the fender on each side
until I get the whole thing situated and figure out he frame mounting. I think I can now get by without
cutting the stock fender struts so that's what I will try to do.

Once setting on the bike I started looking at the shock mounting again. I do not want to
cut this fender up to make room for shocks. I have to come up with something else....

MONO-SHOCK!!

Yes, I think this will work. Run a mono shock under the seat and build an A frame for the swing arm.
Going to have to remove the breather box to make room for the shock.
This is getting to be a longer project that anticipated....Time for a new webpage...
